This weekend, the Monte Gordo Sand Experience in Portugal hosted the fifth round of the FIM Sand World Cup, offering two days of intense competition. The highlight of Saturday’s round, a 1-hour and 30-minute race, with 5 riders in the Women Class.

Amandine Verstappen takes the victory

Titled champion during the previous round, Amandine Verstappen continues her dominance in the women’s category. The Yamaha rider from the New Bike team delivered an impressive performance, finishing 12th overall in the World Cup standings and claiming first place in the women’s class. Her strong start and consistent pace ensured another victory.

Mathilde Denis and Joana Gonçalves impress at Monte Gordo

Mathilde Denis, secured second place in the women’s category, finishing 15th overall. Riding her Fantic bike, she had a great race. Joana Gonçalves, racing on home soil, takes third place in the women’s race. However, as she is not registered in the FIM Sand World Cup, she does not feature in the championship standings. Ema Satabin faced difficulties and retired after 12 laps. Despite this setback, the young Frenchwoman remains at the top of the Junior Women’s World Cup standings. Laura Sequeira also had a tough race with a mechanical problem, completing only eight laps after stop to fix it in the stand. She is not classified.
