Weekend Race Preview #1 : GNCC

This weekend marks the beginning of the famous GNCC series in the USA. Let’s explore the top contenders, schedule, …

GNCC – The 2025 Championship Begins with Big Buck

The 2025 GNCC series kicks off this weekend with the Big Buck event in South Carolina, marking the 50th anniversary of the championship! This year promises to be one of the most competitive yet, as Rachael Archer, the defending champion, returns to defend her title. The New Zealand rider, racing with Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki, is looking to secure a fourth consecutive win in the series and further cement her legacy in offroad racing.

However, Brandy Richards, who finished as the runner-up last year, is a fierce contender. Racing for KTM, Richards won five races in her first season in the GNCC, and she’ll be looking to take her first GNCC championship in 2025. Korie Steede, who finished third last year despite missing two rounds, is another strong contender. Racing for Husqvarna, Steede has the speed to challenge for the title.

Shelby Turner, who claimed one win last season, is looking to improve and challenge the top riders. Tayla Jones, a three-time GNCC champion, is back for another season, and her experience could help her secure podium finishes in a competitive field. Rachel Gutish, vice-World Champion of Enduro GP with Sherco, will also be a rider to follow, as she plans to race selected rounds throughout the season. Other names like Prestin Raines and Carly Lee are also expected to improve and may surprise us with strong performances. Danielle McDonald of AmPro Yamaha Racing Team will be present throughout the season, looking to capture her first podium after a solid showing in 2024.

The opening round at Big Buck is set to be an exciting start to the 2025 season, and it’s anyone’s guess who will come out on top!

The Stat : 3

Three riders competing this weekend have triumphed at Big Buck in recent years. Korie Steede claimed victory here in 2023, while Tayla Jones secured the win twice, in 2017 and 2018. Rachael Archer holds the record for the most wins at this round, with victories in 2021, 2022, and 2024. Who do you think will take the top spot this year?
